Nationally known for its forward-thinking, rigorously researched model, The Creative Curriculum has been trusted for decades by early childhood educators in classrooms across the country. It focuses on meeting the strengths and needs of individual children and honors and respects the role that teachers play in making learning engaging and meaningful for every child.
Our Philosophy
The East Lansing Public Schools’ early childhood philosophy is to provide a foundation for lifelong learning through the holistic development of each child. We believe each child is unique and their social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth occurs in developmental stages that are sequential and continuous. We respect children and have faith in children’s competence and ability to learn. Children experience, understand, internalize, and build upon the world they know, moving from concrete to abstract, the simple to the complex, the known to the unknown, self to others, whole to part, inactive to symbolic, exploratory to goal-directed, inaccurate to accurate, and impulsive to self-controlled. We believe the partnership between home and school is an essential and vital link in promoting lifelong learners.
